This is the foundation for beginning to understand how auras and
frequencies work on a scientific level proving it isn't all new age woo woo.

Magic is supported by science

Hey y’all,
welcome to Our Untamed Roots, where we focus on mental health, witchy vibes, homesteading, travel, and rabbit hole randomness that always seems to tie everything together.
I’m Natasha, and today’s topic is about how science actually backs up magic.
This one is for the people who struggle with the inner whimsical things because their minds are more on the practical and logical side. Shout out to you, my sweet Capricorn friends—especially Ellie from Trading Post Farms—because her question on Facebook when I first started this podcast is what led to this episode.
So, let’s get to it.
Feeling Energy Without Seeing It
Think about this for a second.
Have you ever walked into a room and felt like something was off?
It was as if the energy felt tense when you entered. Or maybe you just had a strange feeling as soon as you crossed the threshold. You look around—no one is there—but you still feel it. That weirdness that can’t be explained.
You probably shook it off and chalked it up to you being the one that’s odd.
Later, you discover that the previous occupants had a heated argument or received sad news, leaving a lingering emotional weight in the room before you arrived.
What you experienced isn’t something tangible. It isn’t something you can see. It’s only something you felt—and only you can fully know it actually happened because no one else had the same experience in that moment.
Most likely, you didn’t even say anything. People may think you’re crazy, so you go about your day wondering why you’re so weird.
I’m here to tell you: you aren’t weird in a negative way, and you absolutely aren’t alone in this experience.
What We Call “Woo-Woo”
I’m going to explain the science behind these magical things commonly known today as woo-woo—the witchy things such as energy healing, intuition, manifestation, working with crystals, synchronicities, and the things that can’t be seen with the eye but can be felt when we really pay attention.
The example I explained at the beginning with the energy in the room is the perfect example of how our energy field works.
When we are upset, anxious, excited, calm, or whatever emotion we may be experiencing, it reflects in our energy field and can be picked up by other people around us—or it can influence a space we occupied.
Depending on where you are on your journey, you could be wondering what exactly an energy field even is. So I’ll start there.
Stick with me for a moment. Use your imagination, and soon we’ll get logical.
The Aura, Explained Simply
Envision a foggy white glow outlining every single living thing you see right now. All of the trees, each individual flower, every animal, as well as yourself and all other living beings—even bacteria.
In the woo-woo world, this would be called an aura.
In science, it’s called bioluminescence.
This glow or light isn’t always white—we’ll get to the different colors in a different episode.
Since 2009, scientists have been proving people glow in the dark.
Hold on—let’s pause because I’m not being silly.
Scientists have discovered humans have a faint glowing light around them. This light is about a thousand times below what the naked eye can see. Scientists take images in dark rooms using highly sensitive cameras with long exposure, and the results show living beings with a faint light around them.
This isn’t coming from infrared body heat or photography tricks. It also isn’t coming from those trendy glow-stick hacks you see on social media.
Scientists are legitimately seeing our aura.
Our inner energy is glowing constantly.
I know people say they can see auras, and I believe they can—because I can see them too when I want to. We can train ourselves intuitively to see them in most cases, and just like anything else, the more we practice, the better we get.
So you’re probably wondering now: how can we see something if scientists say it’s a thousand times below what we’re able to see?
To answer that, we have to go back in history.
Auras Aren’t New
When people talk about auras today, it can sound new age or imaginary. But the idea of the aura is actually ancient.
Long before science had words like electricity or electromagnetic fields, humans noticed that some people carried more weight in a space than others.
Ancient cultures described this in different ways. In India, it was known as prana, a life force flowing through and around the body. In China, it was ki. In ancient Egypt, it was the ka, a spiritual essence believed to exist alongside the physical self. Even the Greeks spoke of pneuma, meaning breath or spirit—the idea that life itself moved through us like air.
As time went on, religion and art gave the aura a visual form. Medieval paintings often showed saints with glowing halos. That wasn’t just for visually pleasing art—it represented spiritual essence, holiness, and light radiating from a person.
During the Middle Ages and into the Renaissance, healers wrote about seeing light, color, or warmth around the body, especially when someone was ill, grieving, or deeply emotional.
These things were being noticed long before scientific observation.
In the 1800s, when electricity and magnetism were being discovered, people started wondering if the body gave off energy in ways they couldn’t yet measure. And in the 1930s, advanced photography showed glowing outlines around the human body, bringing this conversation back into focus.
Today, we know the human body produces measurable electrical and electromagnetic activity from the heart, the brain, and the nervous system.
Science is now seeing what people felt for thousands of years.
Why We “Glow” More When We’re Well
Whether you see the aura as spiritual, symbolic, or psychological, it’s always been humanity’s way of talking about the invisible presence when someone else is around—the energy we carry when we’re grieving, healing, or deeply alive.
Our scientifically proven bioluminescence, or spiritually called aura, has many different colors and changes depending on our inner feelings, health, what we eat, and what we’re doing.
We scientifically glow the brightest when we’re the healthiest.
We hear it all the time: You look like you’re glowing.
Well… that’s because you actually are.
Instinct Was Survival, Not Woo-Woo
Before we get into frequencies, let’s stay back in time for a moment and look at Indigenous people.
Their way of life was nature-based. They weren’t running to Walmart or waiting in line at Starbucks blasting the latest song while having a panic attack because they were late for work.
They used intuition to know what needed to be done that day to survive. They went into the woods to hunt, forage, and build fire by hand. They put their ear to the ground to listen for danger—not their hand on the horn because the car in front of them took nine seconds too long.
They lived in the present. They trusted their instincts.
Unseen energy wasn’t a new-age hippie concept.
It was a survival tool.
A new tribe passing through meant both sides needed intuition to know if they were safe. This unseen energy was felt before a word was spoken.
Modern life diluted our relationship with our instincts. The rush, the schedules, the notifications, the constant fight-or-flight state—it all pulls us away from our ability to slow down and feel.
Our energy is off. People aren’t operating at even a quarter of the frequency they could be.
The good news? We can learn to live in this world while reconnecting with our roots again.
Frequency Is Where Science and Magic Meet
Science has shown us that everything has a frequency. Every object, every atom, even our thoughts.
The music you listen to, the words you hear, the food you eat, the people you’re around—all of it impacts your frequency, which impacts your reality.
Meditation is a perfect example. Scientists measure brain activity and have proven meditation can move us out of fight-or-flight and into calm regulation.
When your mind is calm, you make better decisions, attract better experiences, and break harmful cycles.
The Earth itself has a measurable frequency—about 7.83 hertz, known as the Schumann resonance. When we’re grounded, our bodies tend to calm and return to that state.
Anger, stress, and chaos can push us far away from it. Calm thoughts bring us back.
That’s not fake. That’s science.
This Is the Beginning of Magic
Magic begins with understanding energy, frequency, and emotional regulation—not avoiding emotions, but feeling them and returning to balance.
We can use meditation, crystals, food, music, touch, and intention to ground ourselves again—where magic flows more easily.
There’s so much more to explore, and we’ll go deeper in future episodes. For now, I hope this helped shift these ideas from “imaginary” to something logical and grounded.
Closing thoughts,
